Service Description: This layer is used to determine the location of the County manage floodplain and whether a specificlocation is within the boundary of the inundation zone for a specific flood event.Supplemental Information:County manages floodplain with drainage areas down to 100 acres, in contrast to the FEMA floodplains,which are typically limited to drainage area down to 1 square mile (640 acres).- FEMA floodplain is generally ≥ 1 square mile (640 acres)- Henrico County is generally ≥ 100 acres and Definitions: Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA)o High risk area subject to flooding by the 1% annual chance flood identified by FEMA andHenrico County. 100‐Year Flood (Base Flood)o The 1% annual chance flood. The flood that has a 1% chance of being equaled orexceeded in any given year. Base Flood Elevation (BFE)o The water surface elevation of the 1% annual chance flood.Attributes: FLD_ZONEo Flood zone designation used by County to designate a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA).o Zones: ASpecial Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) subject to inundation by the 1% annual chanceflood event. No base flood elevations determined. AESpecial Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) subject to inundation by the 1% annual chanceflood event. Base flood elevations (BFE) determined. XAreas determined to be outside the 0.2% annual chance floodplain.
